Våndarr A perfect display of musical epicness and storytelling with excellent guitarwork and melodies combined iwth brutality that makes me want to charge headlong into battle. Favorite track: Thaurachs Of Borsu.
Ippocalyptica

Ippocalyptica A perfect blend of melodic death and black metal, this is what Amon Amarth would sound like if they had far greater technical prowess and used more variation in both tempo and their compositions. Though Ayloss will always rightly be associated with his incredible Spectral Lore, he shows all throughout Thaurachs of Borsu why he is one of metal’s premier guitarists and songwriters, doing a great many things and doing them all rather well. This is a fun album that is easy to get into, and you can really tell that Ayloss was using Divine Element as a means to convey far more direct music than is the case with Spectral Lore, which admittedly requires a far greater investment in time and concentration to appreciate. Listening to this album before battle will increase your willingness to fight by 65 percent and will reduce the guilt that you feel for killing your enemies by 81 percent. Recommended. Favorite track: Call Of The Blade.

"Seven Banners, their fearsome emblems mirroring distant fragments of ourselves, familiar in shapes, yet forgotten in meaning. One Great Banner, stalwart and glorious, marching alongside it is our greatest hope, woven in-between its fabrics, are buried stories that we must someday put behind us". Μodrun took a few heavy steps towards the throne. In Thalldon's eyes, the horns of the Thaurach's Banner seemed to be protruding from the old warrior’s grey skull. "One people can only have one story when they throw themselves willingly into Atengain's fiery embrace. It isn't if we march forward or not that we shall decide tomorrow, for we are Borsu and we charge forth as if we take air in and let it out; it is the pride in the minstrel’s voice of future ballads, and the title of our chapter in the Tomes of Lineage that we get to choose."

Stood in the mist for long In a dreamless sleep Kept silent, downtrodden For many ages past We will not go down, without a fight We will not yield to ill-fated future To be the first that draws the sword Is to be the first that draws the fire Yet, the tides of war have already come Masqueraded as lifelong oppression The slow invisible hand of the killer Corroding Awareness and Judgment The valley folk to the mountains’ slopes withdrew Surrounded only by unwrought stone The sea lords to the dry desert driven Οswan roams frenzied in a soundless plain Mestyr hangs discouraged with a rusting blade And all hearts bellow in a silent wailing A resignation to oblivion I will not go down without a fight I will not yield to ill-fated future To be the first that draws the sword Is to take burden over life and death O' spirits of our ancestors Cast your eyes upon us And your curses, should not Our hearts be pure and just our cause But if in honor stand we abreast, Imbue us with Might and Courage! Hail the Thaurachs of Borsu! Our ideals lie on top of a violent history Determine who we are Dispose of what we were Regulate our destination For neither peace nor war Can exist without another And those who vow to eternal peace Shall lose but all of it, in vain

The world of men is cloaked under a veil of weakness In fear of failing the great Oath to the Gods One must rise above The pettiness, the egoism One must battle against The tribalism, the division Is there any man that never wished to change this world? To wrong all ills, to bring vengeance upon the wicked I will hunt down the trail of betrayal The poisonous leeches within the heart of my city One must battle against fatalism and indecisiveness Embrace the unknown and enter the fray One must rise above the self And aim towards the noble idea, the Wholeness If only willpower was the sole key to life… Yet, the privileged still cower at the sight of necessity Mobilized only by half-truths and high promises There are as many layers to a man of wisdom As there are facades to appease the ignorant A web of untruth that serves them unknowingly But then, how should all trust the man of wisdom? Differing conceptions, antagonistic desires Kin, kingdom, caste and belief Each man never fights for just one thing Who are then my people? Are they those of my kin, or my spirit? And what is my spirit? An idea I've been fed, or something deeper? I will fight against obscurity I will fight for a cleansing light

Black Sails are gathering So is pride in the hearts of men At the port of Jadga Ambition and prudence have clashed And wrath was forged In the blood of men Beyond this Sea, I must find Meaning through Force Can I hold this sword (with Might) When uncertainty sweeps all of my mind? Beyond this Sea, now I must lead To guide my brothers Though myself, I'm being led Through fire and steel To a passageway home Goddess of Wisdom Place my forbidden knowledge In the darkest corner of my mind So I may go along with the stream Of warlike and unknowing men Yet leave me not to forget My judgement and my freedom Beyond this War, and the simple wants of men Can I find a course of action That echoes to Eternity?

"The deep silence of the sea was as morbidly deceptive as the unanimous cheering that accompanied the beheadings at Reddened Bay, and echoed still at the back of Thalldon's mind. He tried as hard as he could to suppress the disparity of recent events, for the sake of a congruent rhetoric that would shut off the analytic part of his mind for the coming hours, but the cracks were almost as big as the vast opening in the sky that the Borsu warships' crew suddenly witnessed. The stench of untapped, raw magical energy filled the air and lit up the brazen auras of the army Sorcerers. Five ships, among which they were dispersed, went ahead in the formation and the chill of inevitability - of an irreversible course set forth - first struck the necks of the soldiers as if it were a real wave. All hell was about to break loose, not long after the outline of the coastal fortress city was clearly visible".

For those, whose mind and body never rests For those, whose action speaks a thousand words For those, that face their enemies up front Who waver between excellence and destruction As black fire rained from the sky, the sea roared and waves the size of hills swallowed men and ships Αt the other side, behind this chaos we have set foot, as the earth still shook The land speaks to me in an alien tongue Though my blood was born in these shores What will I find, if I dig to unearth these roots The echo of old thoughts faints quickly here As the collective energy rises triumphant Powered by the fiery will of a few The doubts of men are cast away The grip on their weapons hardened The rest of the world is eliminated All power focused in one single spot CHARGE! ONWARDS! Waves of unseen energy Bring us to our knees PUSH! WITHSTAND! Iron clashes with iron New rivers birthed in red ATTACK! RELENTLESSLY! No trace of mercy This is total war I hear the call of the blade It screams of unlimited potential A world that cannot be fathomed Under ruminations of peace What if I were to heed it? That which is fiercely lived Over that which solemnly admired From a distance We march forward, leaving nothing but scorched earth behind The wailing of women, like music to our ears The Gates of the City are now closed Not even the screaming shall escape It will resound from these walls Back to us forever
7.
Ideals that stayed into words A coffin nail of false gold When the dust settles And tears run dry You will know The promise of a deeper reality Of a meaning in the suffering of man Has lead me here tonight Into the dark night of the soul The dice revealed their face It spoke annihilation all along Out of ulterior motives born The Gods have asked for Fire and Death! Who are you, mortal, to deny? I deny the comfort of your egoistic schemes Your victories will be naked in time You will see your fake order collapse into dust You will see your loved ones die before your very eyes You will see civilization crumble into ruins You will see men kill each other in madness Your dreams withered away Thus us life Thus it has happened and will happen again You will not be indifferent You will not be untouched You will take in your heart All the tragedy of the world And withstand! You will still be there, in the thick of battle For the last stand For glory, For love, For hope, For man's quest towards the eternal Is carried on by a conscious, free sacrifice Forgive them for their Eyes of Hatred No one will ever know the truth But Me! I see the fabric of the world unfold There is something hidden underneath A bright light emerges from the depths...

"The girl turned over the burnt armor with a groan, yet she saw nothing of the man that had so abruptly and inexplicably come to her aid. It was as if his flesh was eager to take leave from this world as soon as possible. She rose to her feet, her empty glance ignoring the dying moans of the last soldier crawling by the other side of the river and walked away from the once holy site, which was now devastated with unnatural power. Black currents began swirling in the northern part of the sky, throbbing rhythmically, electrified as the space between them opened up like a shell. The soldier, in his final breaths, thought he caught a glimpse of a spectral and almost shapeless bird coming through a tunnel from the other side of the universe, to embrace the girl with its wings outstretched from the westernmost to the easternmost part of the valley. The fallen armor shone for a glimpse of a moment in the darkness".

about

A comeback that has been slowly brewing since a few years now. DIVINE ELEMENT was the first band of SPECTRAL LORE's multi-instrumentalist Ayloss and vocalist Antonis, releasing their ambitious debut album back in 2010. Afterwards, the band paused operations and Ayloss took his brand of sprawling, epic metal songwriting to a more atmospheric turn with his solo project, yet the call to continue the story of DIVINE ELEMENT had always been strong within. Reuniting again and using for this recording the services of renowned technical death metal drummer Hannes Grossmann (Alkaloid, Blotted Science, Ex-Obscura, Ex-Necrophagist), "Thaurachs of Borsu" is the first chapter in many future ones to come, under a new and ambitious conceptual undertaking, the combination of metal with fantasy literature and world-making.

"Thaurachs of Borsu" is based on the same-titled novel written by Ayloss, which will be unveiled not long after the album release (to be followed by short stories from Antonis) set on a medieval fantasy universe envisioned by the band. The album chronicles the passage of a soldier through various levels of consciousness about the reality of war, human society and the fabric of the cosmos itself, as the gritty and daring warriors of his nation, Borsu, fight to regain their ancestral homeland from a much more powerful enemy.

Musically, “Thaurachs Of Borsu” ties together several styles of metal to serve the higher purpose of epic storytelling, although takes notice to never fall into the typical clichés of "soundtrack metal", keeping an old-school approach mostly centered around death and black metal of the heavy, melodic variety, with lead guitars leads often betraying their folkish influences, while DIVINE ELEMENT does not eschew the occasional progressive or technical touch.
